Frequently Asked Questions

1) When would the huggle chairs be used?
The huggle snuggle and huggle sprite are comfort chairs intended to complement activity seating. They should be used during times of relaxation, for example when watching TV after school. They offer a high level of comfort and security and will continue to manage posture but in a less prescriptive way than activity seating used in the classroom.
2) How do the chairs manage posture?
  • The chairs come in two different sizes and have a wide range of seat depth adjustment.
  • Lateral support can be added in the form of blockers to position the hips and thighs and adjustable laterals to control trunk position.
  • There is a range of headrests and positioning accessories to further manage posture.
3) How do the chairs manage pressure?
The standard seat cushion with visco-elastic foam, combined with the Tilt-in-Space feature, will be sufficient to address the pressure care issues of most children. However, those who are at higher risk would benefit from the CareFlex WaterCell Technology seat cushion.
4) Can I put a gel pad or similar pressure relief cushion on a huggle chair?
There is no need! The huggle chairs are available with a CareFlex WaterCell Technology seat cushion. This patented system combines water cells with visco-elastic memory foam, it provides a continuous low-pressure seating solution which is suitable for children who are at medium to high risk of pressure damage.
5) How easy are the chairs to move around?
  • The huggle chairs have four braked, twin-wheel castors and an ergonomically positioned push handle, so they can be moved from room to room easily.
  • The footplate can be used to keep feet off the floor. We recommend that a pelvic strap is used when portering someone in a chair.
  • Please note that the huggle chairs have not been crash-tested and must never be used for patient transport in a road vehicle.
6) Do I need any tools to operate them?
In day-to-day use, no.
